“I was poisoned,” Lady Ponce said in latest outing

On December 9, 2023, Cameroonian bikutsi artist, Adèle Ruffine Ngono, popularly known as Lady Ponce made a revelation in which she claimed that people she had previously helped tried to poison her.

Taking to social media, Ponce wrote a cryptic message that reverberated through the Cameroonian entertainment scene. “They talk about me on their live streams, but they forget to tell you they poisoned me,” she wrote. “Seeing me alive still shocks me. They are forced to invent lies, believing it will save them when I speak.”

While the statement did not explicitly name anyone, it sparked speculation and online debate. Ponce’s fans and supporters expressed disbelief and concern, while others demanded clarification and evidence for her claims.

Ponce also hinted that she would reveal details of the story in a future song. “I will tell the whole story one day in a song,” she wrote, leaving fans eager for the music’s release and the potential answers it may provide.

She also emphasised the good she has done despite facing ingratitude. She stated that this doesn’t deter her from continuing to help those in need, pointing out that many are unaware of the reasons she is still alive.

“I have the strength to endure ingratitude, and that’s why I will continue to help those in need. Because it also helped me when I needed it most,” she asserted.

Lady Ponce’s accusations have cast a shadow over the Cameroonian music industry, known for its energy and close-knit community. The allegations raise questions about industry dynamics, interpersonal relationships, and the potential for hidden rivalries.

Known for her advocacy, Lady Ponce has faced backlash from colleagues, fans, and friends. As of now, the individuals alluded to in Ponce’s statement have not responded publicly. Nevertheless, the artist’s claims have sparked a crucial conversation about the darker aspects of the industry and the challenges faced by female artists.

While the complete story remains veiled in secrecy, Lady Ponce’s decision to speak out has animated debates in the past few hours. Cases of young talents and entrepreneurs being poisoned by their closest friends abound in Cameroon.
