ICT University showcases Teaching Prowress at Boot Camp/Open-Door ceremony

The ICT University yesterday, September 3, 2021 held the closing ceremony of a Boot Camp which the Institution had organised and hosted for at least 4 weeks.

The programme entailed a free training of mostly Secondary school students from various parts of Yaoundé, in different domains which were mainly; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Rector of the ICT University, Professor Emmanuel Anyambot said that “The main idea behind the Boot camp by the ICT University is to transform the society into a digital society.”

With this in mind, he also mentioned that achieving that aim in the long run requires harvesting brains while they are still young and make them tech enthusiast, just like it was done at the Boot camp.

According to Professor Anyambot, ICTs are the bedrock of the society, and the ICT University in particular the pillar in Cameroon as he said that the Programmes at the University are “Unique and suited to answer to the needs and the aspirations of the people.”

Students at the closing ceremony were able to showcase the amazing projects which they had been working on for the one month duration of their training at the ICT University.

The main projects on show at the ceremony by the trainees were; a two way traffic light system, designed to help curb the growing number of road accidents in the country; a smart car which uses artificial intelligence to function; an automatic irrigation system capable of detecting how moist or not the soil is for crops and watering it; an automatic waste bin, designed to open and close automatically as you approach and leave it; and exclusive lessons on cyber security.

The students were equally handed Attestations at the end of the Ceremony by the Coordinator of the Boot camp, Mr Fru Emmanuel to the trainees. He hailed the students for their enthusiasm in learning and carrying out their various ICT based projects as he said they had taken a giant leap in becoming future job creators and not job seekers.

The ICT University is currently accepting applications.
