Indomitable Lions get heroic welcome in Saudi Arabia ahead of game with Zambia

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: The Cameroonian national football team, known as the Indomitable Lions, arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, December 30th, 2023, to begin their training camp ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Dozens of Cameroonians in Saudi Arabia and supporters of the teams came out wearing the country’s traditional attire and the Lion’s jerseys to welcome the players and their team manager, Rigobert Song.

The Lions, who are five-time AFCON champions, will be using Jeddah as their base as they gear up for the tournament, which will be hosted by Ivory Coast for the second time. The competition kicks off on Saturday, January 13th, 2024, with the hosts taking on Guinea-Bissau at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.

Cameroon’s official program for the tournament includes a friendly match against Zambia on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, in Jeddah. This match will be a crucial opportunity for the Lions to fine-tune their tactics and build team chemistry before their opening game against Guinea on Monday, January 15th, 2024, in Yamoussoukro.

The team is packed with talented players, including experienced veterans like captain Vincent Aboubakar and promising young stars like Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
