Inhabitants of Bafoussam Denounce Recent Killings in Bamenda.

Bafoussam, Cameroon – Dozens of people all dressed in black gathered in Bafoussam this day to denounce the recent killings in Bamenda, the capital of the Northwest Region. The ceremony was led by the governor of the West Region, Awa Fonka Augustine, and attended by religious leaders, traditional rulers, and civil society representatives.

The participants condemned the mass killings of Nacho, when unidentified armed men killed at least 10 people in Bamenda. They also expressed their anger at the ongoing violence in the region, which has claimed the lives of hundreds of people in recent months.

“We are tired of these killings,” said one participant. “We want peace and security in our region.”

The governor of the West Region called on the perpetrators of the violence to lay down their arms and return to the negotiating table. He also urged the government to do more to protect civilians.

“We will not allow these criminals to terrorize our people,” said the governor. “We will bring them to justice.”

The ceremony in Bafoussam was a powerful show of unity against the violence in Bamenda. The participants sent a clear message that they will not tolerate the continued killing of innocent civilians.
