Inhabitants of Buea say ban on Holiday Classes Not necessary

Some Inhabitants of Southwest Regional capital, Buea, have said government’s ban on holiday classes is not necessary, and that it will not be effective in curbing Covid-19 if other Measures do not accompany it.

Minister Nalova Lyonga of Secondary Education, it should be recalled last week banned holiday classes from holding in the country due to surging number of Coronavirus cases in the country.

“It is not really necessary. I don’t see any need for banning holiday classes when weddings are holding, schools have been going on, and bars have been operating, says a University of Buea student on the basis of anonymity.

According to Denis Kigha, Covid-19 focal person for Lukmef NGO in Buea, the ban on holiday classes is not bad but should be accompanied with other Measures.

“I don’t see anything wrong with it, but other Measures such as setting up of e-learning infrastructures should accompany the ban so as to effectively bar Covid-19. An isolated measure such as banning holiday classes when schools had been going on may not be very effective in curbing the pandemic,” he said.
