International crisis group presents damaging report on Cameroon, says violence is on the rise.

This was in a recent report where the group stated that Cameroon’s armed forces stepped up attacks “mostly targeting civilians and Boko Haram” militants in Far North region.

The violence, the group notes also increased in the Anglophone regions as “separatists continued to imposes ban starting late August, on economic activity and movement of vehicles until mid September, to prevent schools from reopening”. Close to 50 persons, the group says were killed in the regions within September alone and several others kidnapped or injured.

The International Crisis Group also traced the timeline on the national dialogue, stating that most of those pre-consulted were Francophones. To make things worse it adds, the MRC party denied taking part in the talks.

Supposed ex-amba fighters from the bushes at the national dialogue have warned that if the root cause of the conflict is not addressed, it will worsen as many more are ready to pick up arms. The resolutions arrived at are set to be made public soon.
