Joint Security Forces Seize Large Arsenal in N’Djamena Raid

Security forces have dealt a severe blow to criminal networks in N’Djamena, seizing a significant arsenal of weapons and military-style equipment.

The large-scale search operation, carried out on Sunday, January 18, by a joint security commission, led to the discovery and seizure of weapons and ammunition in the 10ᵗʰ and 2ⁿᵈ districts of the Chadian capital, N’Djamena.

Launched at dawn, the operation mobilized the National Police, National Gendarmerie, GNNT, intelligence services, and the Judicial Police. Seven strategic sectors were systematically combed under the direct supervision of top security officials.

Authorities reported the seizure of 28 pistols of various brands, 14 firearms, over a thousand rounds of ammunition, military uniforms, and accessories. Six vehicles carrying suspicious materials were also recovered.

Two individuals in possession of weapons were arrested, and several bladed weapons were taken out of circulation.

The operation was conducted in the presence of senior security leaders, including the Director General of the National Police, Controller General Tougoud Digo Maïdé, and the Director General of the National Gendarmerie, Major General Djiddo Mahamat Haggar.

Present on the ground, the Minister of Public Security and Immigration, Lieutenant General Ali Ahmat Aghabache, personally oversaw the seizures and commended the professionalism and coordination of the joint teams.

He urged security forces to maintain constant pressure against all forms of criminal activity, stating that such operations are essential to strengthening citizen protection and durably curbing insecurity nationwide.
