The national president and Member of Parliament for the Parti Camerounais pour la Réconciliation Nationale (PCRN), Honorable Cabral Libii and the Presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Front (SDF), Honorable Osih Joshua today expressed outrage as a result of the late submission of the 3-year budgetary framework for deliberation.
The over 130-page document was handed in at exactly 10:30 am, with just about three hours for the parliamentarians to go through and debate.
“Cameroon is definitely adrift!” Cabral Libii angrily lashed out as he forcefully took to the podium, accompanied by Honorable Osih.
“…I now have irrefutable proof that Cameroon is indeed out of control… How can the National Assembly agree to organize on July 05, 2022, at 10:30 am a budgetary orientation on a 3-year framework while discovering the 130-page document at that same time?” Cabral questioned.
Talking to the press afterward, Cabral said the document normally should be ready at least 15 days before the parliamentary session.
To Cabral, this latest show of nonchalance from the parliament is proof enough that the country is heading for the curb.
The late submission of the document is a direct violation of the law of July 11, 2018, on the financial regime of the state.
The law obliged the document to be transmitted to Parliament at least by July 1 ahead of the parliamentary session.
“… even in the worst autocracies, there are norms,” Cabral fumed, as he requested an extraordinary session for the issues to be addressed.
Many critics have questioned why these two parliamentarians have not shown the same level of disgust at the warped parliamentary procedures, which have failed to discuss the conflicts in parts of the country, especially the Anglophone crisis in the North West and South West Regions.
