The Cameroon Journalists’ Trade Union CJTU has confirmed the kidnapping of a journalist, Lawrence Chiggle also Known as Laarry Uchenna in Bamenda.

Larry was kidnapped by suspected Ambazonian fighters early yesterday, and till now his whereabouts is unknown.

“There are indications he might have been kidnapped. We are calling on anyone keeping him to immediately grant him freedom. Like any other media worker in the region and elsewhere his duty is carried out in all neutrality, ” CJTU said adding that he should be released without condition.

Larry has been doing his job as an engaged reporter with diligence and must be released immediately.

We at Mimi Mefo Info stand for press freedom as we understand the slippery political atmosphere in the country which makes it unsafe for reporters.

If you target journalists, who will be society’s watchdog?
