Journalist Pedmia Shatu crowned Miss YALI peace for North West region

Bamenda- Journalist, Pedmia Shatu Tita has been crowned Miss Young Africa Peace Initiative, YALI for the North West region.She was unveiled winner May 13.

This is within the context of the YALI Cameroon Peace Advocy Award CPAA.

YALI Cameroon Peace Advocy Award is an award for young Cameroonians who have been leading a peace building initiative with demonstrated impact on combating hate speech and youth violence in Cameroon.

Her initiatives and potentials were found worth in peace building efforts.

Shatu’s project, known as “#HatefreeAbakwa” project, is an initiative aimed at strengthening peaceful voices and supporting the actions of youth, women and girls.

It has as goal to counter social media hate speech, conflict rhetoric and directed online/offline incitement to violence.

The YALI Cameroon Peace Advocy Award is organized by Mandela Washington Fellows Cameroon Alumni Association in partnership with the US Embassy in Yaoundé.
