A court in Nkambe, chief town of Ndonga mantung in Cameroon’s restive North West region has liberated journalist Wawa Nfor, after he spent 2years 9months in pre-trial detention.

The judgment was handed down this Friday after the court brought up new charges of which he pleaded not guilty but was declared guilty and sentence to 2 yrs imprisonment. Given that he had served the two years already, he was set free at 1:00pm UTC+1.
“I was indeed delighted when he told me on phone that he has been released,” a Bamenda based journalist told Mimi Mefo Info.
The press core in Bamenda has been celebrating after several online campaigns to set him free did not produce any fruits.
Journalist Wawa Jackson Nfor was arrested without a warrant on May 15, 2018.
