Journalists in Far North Cry Out Against Horrible Work Conditions

Media men in Cameroon’s Far North Region today mobilized at the Regional Delegation for Communication on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day.

While commemorating the day, the media men denounced the various forms of injustices that they have suffered in the region because of their profession.

The journalists were granted audience by the Far North Regional Delegate for Communication.

Among a list of grievances advanced by the media men were the non-payment of salaries, little or no logistical backing, and extremely horrible working conditions.

The media landscape in the region has equally be inundated by charlatans, who have often sabotaged the noble profession according to the media men.

The Journalists told the regional delegate that “…there are some online platforms that have earned respect like Cameroun Net, and MMI… in today’s landscape, all it takes is for someone to own a phone and have some mega bites to start considering himself a journalist.”

The feeling at the end of their session with the state officials is for more to be done to purge out the lunatics within the profession and make it more respectable like before.
