The MRC party president was speaking yesterday on his official Facebook page in reaction to the atrocity committed by unidentified assailants in Kumba.
In his address amongst a host of other things, Maurice Kamto blamed the regime of President Paul Biya for highly neglecting the evolution of the Anglophone crisis to this level.
The MRC president used the opportunity to condemn the macabre act as well as extend the party’s condolences to the bereaved families.
He also demanded that everything possible be made to bring peace to the two restive regions.
Kamto criticized the use of military force to handle the crisis despite its flaws, saying it was as a result of military excesses that the crisis had gone to this stage.
In his speech, he called for “the opening of an independent international investigation into these atrocities, followed by legal proceedings and heavy sentences against the perpetrators”
In reiterating the stance of the MRC, Kamto once again called for the opening of an inclusive major dialogue with international mediation between the conflicting parties, an end to hostilities, the establishment of an independent international commission of enquiry to shed light on all the crimes committed in the anglophone regions, and the release of all arrested in connection to the crisis.
Kamto ended his address by calling on all Cameroonians to make Thursday October 29, 2020 as a national day of mourning for the massacred children.
“I call on all Cameroonians without any religious or political consideration, to do together on Thursday October 29, a day of national grieving. I ask each of us to dress in black…” he ended.
