Karl Etta Eyong is quickly becoming one of the brightest young footballers in Spain. The 21-year-old forward, on loan at Levante from Villarreal, has started the new LaLiga season in stunning form.
In just six matches, he has scored four goals and provided three assists, making him one of the most effective players in the league so far.
His numbers tell their own story. Among all players in LaLiga this season, only Kylian Mbappé has managed better attacking statistics.
That puts Etta Eyong in remarkable company, considering Mbappé is regarded as one of the very best in the world.
For a young Cameroonian still at the start of his professional journey, ranking just behind the French superstar is an extraordinary achievement.
Etta Eyong’s rise has been steady. He began his football journey in Douala with Ecole de Football Galactique before moving to Spain to continue his development.
He joined Cádiz CF’s academy, later moved to Villarreal, and has now taken the step to Levante in search of regular playing time.
That decision is already paying off, with goals on his debut and continued contributions in every match since.
For Cameroonians, and especially the Anglophone community, Etta Eyong’s success carries a deeper meaning.
Very few Anglophone players have managed to break into European football at this level.
His progress is a reminder that talent from every part of Cameroon can rise to the very top when given the opportunity.
Attention is now turning to what his form could mean for the Indomitable Lions. Cameroon’s national team is in need of fresh attacking options as older stars like Vincent Aboubakar enter the final stage of their careers.
With his pace, versatility, and eye for goal, Etta Eyong has everything it takes to become a key figure in the national side.
His current form in Spain is making a strong case for his inclusion in upcoming international fixtures.
Karl Etta Eyong is not just another promising youngster abroad. He is already proving himself at a high level, and if he continues on this path, he could become one of the future leaders of the Indomitable Lions.
For now, he is thrilling fans in Spain, but his biggest impact may still come wearing Cameroon’s green, red, and yellow.
