Kenya and Zimbabwe have been dropped out of the list of qualifiers for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Ivory Coast.
They were disqualified by FIFA, through the Confederation of African Football(CAF)
The two countries are reportedly under suspension by FIFA following ‘political interference’.
Kenya and Zimbabwe were earlier included in the official draw list on the condition that the suspension must be lifted two weeks prior to their first match.
According to reports, they were unable to meet up with the requirements for the uplifting of the suspension, subjecting them to disqualification.
CAF however reiterated that Group C and K, where both countries were initially listed will still have to produce two qualified teams.
Group C will therefore be left with three countries which include ; Cameroon, Burundi and Namibia while Group K is left with Liberia, Morroco and South Africa.
Meanwhile, many have perceived this as a relieve which will facilitate the task for the Indomitable Lions who will now have to confront just two teams instead of three.
