Kouseri: Couple on the run after death of stolen baby.

A man and his wife are on the run in Kouseri, a town in the Far North Region of Cameroon.

Accused of partaking in the theft of a baby, the couple security sources say, are prime suspects.

“The baby was stolen yesterday at about 7:30am and we found her this morning around a garage dead” a source narrates.

After investigations, the disappearance of the baby was linked to neighbors, the couple on the run.

“We got two suspects but the woman is no where to be found, She has escaped with the husband” our source explains.

Other suspects in the case are being held at the Lacka Brigade in Kousseri. He adds that “… The two suspects in custody [are] the husband’s two brothers who helped him to escape.”

Prior to their escape, locals say they believe the coupled killed the child as a search was launched for her.

“It’s really confusing. We started searching yesterday throughout the night and then maybe its the pressure… I keep asking, why kill the child? Why not just return the child alive and run away? … They hid the child somewhere and by forcing her, the neck got broken. It’s really confusing ” laments the source.

The child was found hidden in a bag in a garage by locals after a day of searching.
