The body of a young man has been recovered from the ocean in Kribi after he drowned three days ago.
Araphat as he was called is reported to have left Douala to spend some time in the town of Kribi with his aunt before returning.
As is the case with every newcomer in the town, he was attracted by the splendor of the ocean which he went to visit but did not return home.
His uncle, Moussa who had reported the case of his missing nephew, found him out on the Ngoyè beach. He identified the victims after he was drawn to the scene by the huge crowd which had gathered round a corpse washed to the shore by the waves.
After due inspection on the body, it was handed over to the family by the police to proceed with burial. His aunt meanwhile has remained inconsolable.
This is just the latest of a series of drownings recorded in Kribi recently.
Some of the beaches in the town are said to be highly unprotected and without any vigilant surveillance from authorities or resort owners.
