Kribi: DO to appear before military tribunal over murder

Franck Ebanga, DO for Lokoundjie in the South Region is expected to appear before the military tribunal in the days ahead.

The administrator whose weapon allegedly killed his 23-year old partner, Lydienne Taba on July 25th, will be tried in the days ahead by the Military Tribunal.

Lydienne was laid to rest over the weekend in a ceremony that saw hundreds protest, calling for justice.

Though the funeral is over, a new page has just been opened for her family which is pressing for justice to be served.

The victim’s father, Patrice Ebemby Mboma has solicited the services of ‘Universal lawyers and human rights defense’, a collective of lawyers led by Barrister Dominique Fousse.

“This is a story that deserves to be clarified. Lydienne’s father formally consulted us. We accepted this new challenge, ”said Barristers Guy Olivier Moteng, member of the collective.

“This is a death from a gun and whenever there is a firearm, the military court has jurisdiction. Added to the fact that the Do is from Kribi, there is what is called the privilege of jurisdiction. We cannot judge an authority, of the rank of SDO or DO, in his zone of command. So we are probably heading to the southern military court in Ebolowa, ”Guy Olivier Moteng explained.

An investigation opened after the incident is still ongoing, though the victim’s family had cried foul, alleging that the powers that be had tampered with evidence.
