Kribi: Hundreds of youths protest killing of student by DO

In Kribi, Cameroon’s South region, the brutal killing of a young female student by a Divisional Officer is still fresh on the minds of locals.

On Friday, hundreds of mourners poured on the streets of Kribi as the corpse of Lydienne Taba was being removed from mortuary.

Majority of the protesters were women – security forces were present as they marched through the streets, all dressed in black and chanting.

Lydienne passed away in hospital weeks back after sustaining a bullet wound from the gun of the DO who was her her partner.

The DO claims it was a mistake, but the victim was reportedly shot several times, according to medical reports.
