Kribi police apprehend criminal who burgled fuel stations with BIR gun

Kribi police, led by Commissioner Dr. Raymond Mann, have apprehended a man after he successfully carried out two robberies on Tradex and Total fuel stations.

The 41-year-old Sieur Edouma Ekei confessed he stole a gun from his brother who is a member of Cameroon’s Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR, which he used to rob the two fuel stations in Kribi.

The criminal was trapped in an incomplete building while being chased by the police. The fierce mob was also in search of the criminal after Tradex station workers sounded a robbery alarm.

He surrendered to elements of Kribi’s Central Police Station on the night of Sunday, October 18, after failing to escape.

He robbed Total and Tradex fuel stations at about 11:00pm that night with a Valtro-type pistol, regularly recognized as an endowment of the BIR, with five ammunition, and was on the run when the police was notified.

After being caught, he confessed he stole the gun from his brother who is Captain in the elite corps of the BIR, currently on assignment in the Southwest region.
