Lebialem: Six youths buried alive in Esso-attah

By David Atangana

Atleast six young people have died after being buried alive by youths of Esso-attah, a village in Lebialem division of the restive South West region, MMI has learnt.

The incident reportedly occured on October 22, 2023.

They allegedly had their hands tied to their backs before internment.

Reports say the six were accused of being behind the killing of some three chiefs of the division by separatist fighters for taking part in government organized elections few years ago.

“Na wuna six this” a voice is overheard in a video in pidgin English happily pointing to the grave where the six people were buried.

“The video you see is a masacre of six boys buried alive by the youths of Esso-attah” a source whose relative was killed in the process told MMI.

According to information gathered, these boys where buried alive by the youths of Esso-attah on allegations that they led ‘Amba boys’ to the various houses of some chiefs of the village who were killed by the fighters.

“The youths were angry and had to bury these boys” the source said wailing that, “the child tied in front of the boys is my brother named Ebesoh Titus”

Two sons of Esso-attah suspected alongside the deceased were spared while those killed are reportedly from Mamfe, Bamenda and other parts of the South West region.
