Les microbes: Governor bans circulation of bikes, orders closure of bars, leisure centres

The Governor of the Littoral Region of Cameroon held an emergency meeting with high-ranking security officials on Wednesday, December 14th 2022, to address security challenges plaguing the town of Douala.

Douala residents in the commercial city of Cameroon have been hit by several attacks and assaults from a notorious gang of criminals called ‘Les Microbes’ for days now.

Governor Samuel Ivaha Diboua in today’s meeting outlined series of measures to contain the group which has been a nightmare to both security authorities and the population.

Here is the list of security steps taken by the governor:

  • Suspension of motorcycle circulation in the city of Douala from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Closing of drinking establishments and game rooms in certain targeted neighborhoods.

  • Systematic questioning of peddlers of false news, including in social networks, by the Forces of Law and Order.

  • Prohibition of the transportation of machetes, knives and other sharp objects…
