The First Vice President of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) was received by an overwhelming crowd yesterday in his hometown after being freed from the Yaoundé Kondengui Central Prison where he spent almost two years in detention.
While he was well received and applauded by the population, there were however some pockets of persons who sought to foil the event by displaying posters with hostile messages against the Vice President of the CRM party, an action which he believes has been sponsored and orchestrated by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril.
Reacting to what happened, he said “Cavaye Yeguie must know that it is quite shameful for his age and for his social rank to carry out this kind of policy. The policy of savagery and the cave has lasted long enough! Let him remember that neither today nor tomorrow will he be able to prevent me from living in Tokombere. No one can prevent me from entering my home. Thank you to you, my people,” he declared.
Mamadou Mota was arrested in October 2019 after he organized a protest which was banned by the regime in order to protest against President Paul Biya’s Presidential Election victory of 2018 as CRM party militants still believe the election was stolen from Maurice Kamto.
