“Let’s Us Give National Dialogue A Chance” – His Eminence Cardinal Tumi

The Former Archbishop of the Metropolitan Diocese of Douala has called on Cameroonians in general and Anglophones in particular to give dialogue a chance. The Cardinal was reacting to a call made by the President of Cameroon Paul Biya during a rare state of the nation’s address Tuesday, September 10, 2019.

Christian Cardinal Tumi, main convener of the Anglophone General Conference, AGC says: “We have always called for a national meeting to discuss the problem and calling for a national dialogue is a welcome initiative”.

“With some Anglophone activists that see the Anglophone problem as a serious issue that cannot be discussed in a broad-based national dialogue that will handle problems from the ten regions of Cameroon”. Cardinal Tumi told the press in Douala, the dialogue is a major step and thus “people should go to the dialogue table in good faith to build and not to destroy Cameroon”.

Christian Cardinal Tumi has suffered severe setbacks in the organization of the Anglophone General Conference, AGC, intended to gather proposals from Anglophones on the causes and possible solutions to the crisis and table to the government.
“We must go to the dialogue table with intellectual honesty and no one has the monopoly to seeking the solution to the current crisis. We must all love our country” Cardinal Tumi has stated. By this, the Cardinal says he is opposing those who are already seeing evil in the dialogue when it has not even started.
