Limbe: One-year-old boy mysteriously stabbed to death at uncle’s house

A one-year-old boy whose name MMI got as Chris Maxime died recently after he was stabbed to death under unclear circumstances at his uncle’s residence in Limbe, South West Region of Cameroon.

Based on information MMI gathered, the child’s mother, who had just come in from Bafang, had left him with her brother-in-law to visit another relative.

“She took the opportunity to visit another relative, leaving her child at home on Tuesday, in the presence of her brother-in-law, his wife and mother of the latter,” a relative to the child’s mother told MMI.

Barely out, she received a phone call announcing that the child had stabbed himself.

When interrogated, the brother-in-law with whom the child was left said he found the knife placed near the child and not inside him.

In an exclusive audio sent to MMI, the brother-in-law could be heard recounting that the child would have mistakenly stabbed himself before removing the knife and placing it by the side.

This claim was vehemently refuted by those around him who insisted that it is impossible for a baby to stab himself right in the chest and get rid of the knife all by himself.

“This child died 30 minutes later in the Limbe regional hospital. The body was immediately transferred to Bafang and then to Mbouda on Wednesday morning,” a relative added.

The child in question was buried on Wednesday, February 8, but the truth about his tragic death is not known.
