Limbe Road Accident Claims One Life, Two Injured

A tragic road accident on Friday, March 8th, claimed the life of one person and left at least two others injured on the Mile Two Limbe stretch.

According to witnesses, a truck transporting wheat flour experienced brake failure near Mile Four Limbe. Despite attempts by the driver to control the vehicle, it collided with a motorcycle rider just past the Mile Two junction.

The motorbike rider, identified as a local from Nkambe, sustained severe injuries, including the loss of a leg, and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed.

A woman, reportedly a regular traveler between Buea and Limbe, was also injured when her car was partially crushed by the truck.

Local authorities responded swiftly, with police securing the scene and preventing onlookers from approaching the wreckage.

This accident comes just a few months after a similar tragedy in Buea this past January. In that incident, a truck lost control and crushed several taxis near Bunduma, claiming the lives of at least two people. Road accidents are one of the leading causes of deaths in Cameroon.

The recent Limbe accident occurred as women in the city were celebrating International Women’s Day, casting a shadow over the day’s festivities.
