Limbe: Young woman arrested for stabbing boyfriend to near death

In Limbe, a town situated in the South West Region of Cameroon, security forces have apprehended a young woman in her 20s named Modestine for stabbing her partner to near death.

According to reports, the couple, who resided at Antenne Nextel, found themselves embroiled in a heated argument over infidelity.

The man, identified as a commercial motorcycle rider, had accused his partner of consistently participating in video chats with various men and sharing compromising images of her to her ‘lovers’. Frustrated by his partner’s behaviour, the man took matters into his own hands, and confronted her.

Equinoxe TV has reported that the man seized Modestine’s phone, broke her SIM card, and instructed her not to use a phone under his roof. According to the media house’s Pidgin News program aired daily, “Modestine grabbed a knife in anger. Out of fear, the man ran into a nearby bush for his safety.”

“After assuming that the situation had calmed down, the motorcycle rider returned home a short while later. Upon his arrival, he observed his partner preparing for an outing. In another attempt to confront her, Modestine seized the same knife and pierced through his stomach, stabbing him in other parts of the body,” recounted a source.

“The man was saved thanks to the intervention of neighbours who immediately rushed him to the Mile One Hospital in Limbe, on time.”

While the man is reportedly responding positively to medical attention, Modestine has been detained by security forces for further investigation.

It is noteworthy that incidents of domestic violence have been on the rise in Cameroon.

In the Mendong neighborhood of Yaounde, a woman was recently apprehended for fatally stabbing her partner over financial disputes. Sources indicate that the man met his tragic end after refusing a financial request from the woman in question.
