Littoral Region: Drunk Driver Kills One, Injures Another in Douala

A Motorbike rider has died in Douala, after his bike was knocked down by a speeding vehicle early on January 22, 2022, at about 3:30 A.M not far from the Akwa Palace Hotel.

It has been revealed that the driver of the car which knocked the bike down was heavily intoxicated with alcohol at the time of the accident.

The rider died on the spot, and the passenger he was carrying, Leukam Mylène Gertrude is in a critical state at the hospital.

Witnesses say Gertrude was on her way to the motor park to catch an early morning bus to Yaoundé that day when disaster struck.

Gertrude, a mother of 1 was seriously struck in her arm, sustained a leg fracture and a head trauma from the accident.

Meanwhile, the owner of the car at the time of the accident is said to have left the scene immediately to an ATM Machine where he withdrew money and returned to the casino he was in.

He was arrested moments later by the forces of law and order and is in detention.
