Littoral Region: gang of 13 arrested



A gang, consisting of 13 suspected thieves has been arrested in the Littoral Region of Cameroon.

The first suspect, a 34-year-old who happened to be the leader was apprehended following an operation by the elements of the Nkongsamba Gendarmerie.

The operation was carried out on Monday, August 8, 2022, in the Bois des senges neighborhood in Douala.

The arrest of the gang leader eased the arrest of the other members across towns of the Littoral Region.



After a two-week operation, the 13 suspected thieves, said to be ex-convicts were caught and presented to the press on Thursday, August 25, 2022.

This was in the presence of the population and the Senior Divisional Officer of the Moungo Division.

Aged between 22 and 24, the gang consisted of 12 men and a woman.

They are said to have been responsible for numerous crimes in the Littoral and North West Regions.


They had reportedly robbed two military officials of the navy at the Douala port and were equally at the origin of the inferno which took place at the Wum Infantry Battalion in the North West Region.

According to the National Gendarmerie, the following were seized from them: “02 M21S assault rifles; 54 rounds of ammunition; knives, 02 machetes, a nail puller; 03 passports; 12 mobile phones and 06 birth certificates were recovered during the operation.

The gang has been referred to the Military State Counsel of the Douala Military Court.
