Locals flee Ntankar Village for safety after military raid

Residence of Ntankar, a locality in Mezam Division of the North west region have fled the area following a gun battle between elements of the defence forces and suspected separatists fighters.

The incident occurred on the night of Tuesday October 22, 2019 breaking Wednesday 23.

“At about midnight i heard Boom”, a resident tells MMI while running away with his family.

Prior to last nights’ shooting that cause most of the inhabitant of the area to spent the night in the bushes, officers of the defence forces earlier on invaded the area, in search of the remains of the beheaded police officer, Nwana Polycarp.

In the cause of the operation, houses were set on fire as they battled with the separatists fighter who happened to have a camp in the area.
