Shock and consternation has gripped locals of Mbanga, Moungo Division of the Littoral Region of Cameroon following the tragic death of a 5-year-old boy, whose name we got as Ettingue Marvelous.
He was crushed to death by a truck in the early hours of Thursday December 26, 2019 as he attempted to cross the road.
Family members say the young marvelous was on a Christmas break in Mbanga, from Compina, just two days before his demise.
The truck driver is being detained by gendarmerie elements in Mbanga, and his vehicle has equally been impounded.
Locals blame the accident on gravels abandoned by a truck on the high way. The stretch of the national road number 5 is mainly used by drivers transporting gravels from a quarry in Mbanga to the rest of the Littoral region.
Users say gravel and seawall falling off from over loaded trucks have occupied the tarred surface, leaving the stretch extremely dangerous for vehicles
