A suspected thief is being held at the Souza gendarmerie in the Littoral region of Cameroon.
The individual, sources say, robbed a shop at a place called Mundani quarter. There, “he entered an MTN Mobile money shop and made away with cash of about FCFA 230,000 and for mobile phones.”
Amateur video shows him being beaten by an angry crowd with some asking why he carried out the act.
He would later sustain a wound for attempting to escape: “On their way to the security post, he jumped from the bike and tried to run but was shot on the leg,” the source adds.
It remains uncertain whether he will be charged for the act by authorities.
