Man Selling Stolen Phones Escapes Yaounde Mob Justice

A man specialising in the sale of stolen mobile phones has escaped death after being beaten by an angry mob at Avenue Kennedy in Yaounde, Centre Region, Cameroon.

When he arrived to purchase a stock of stolen telephones, officers of the Special Operations Group (GSO) detained the man, who is in his thirties.

“He was caught in the act of buying phones from street children,” revealed an officer of the armed force who carried out the operation.

A furious crowd unleashed a brutal assault on an individual just moments before the arrival of law enforcement forces. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was subjected to severe beatings by the enraged populace.

In a tense and harrowing incident, the young man found himself being forcefully placed inside a vehicle amidst a fervent crowd that was vehemently calling for his lynching. The intense pressure from the agitated onlookers created a highly volatile atmosphere, as they sought to take matters into their own hands.

Residents and visitors of Kennedy Avenue in Yaoundé have been facing an alarming rise in theft and concealment of devices, causing growing concern among the community. This notorious hotspot has become a breeding ground for criminal activities, leaving individuals vulnerable to the loss of their valuable possessions.

The surge in thefts has left many residents on edge, as incidents of stolen devices have become all too common.

From smartphones and tablets to laptops and other electronic gadgets, Estimates suggest that approximately 30 phones are stolen on a daily basis, highlighting the alarming rate of phone theft incidents.
