Mandela Centre International demands compensation for Yaya Sule detained incommunicado for 30 days

Yaya Sule has been released from Ndop public security police station in the North west region Thursday 30th July 2020. Arbitrary arrested on the 1st of July 2020, Mandela Center International says the carpenter by profession and native of Bamessing village suffered torture and other forms of inhuman treatment while in detention.

According to a release from Mandela Center International July 30th “Yaya Sule was detained incommunicado on instructions of the senior divisional officer of Ngokentujia division. Quetong Handerson Kongeh accused Mr. Yaya Sule of collaborating with separatist fighters against the state of Cameroon”.

Explaining reasons why Yaya Sule has been set free, Mandela Center International says “the SDO’s office later discovered that it ordered for the arrest and detention of a wrong person. The SDO intended to arrest a certain Yaya from Banso believed to have donated the sum of two million francs cfa to separatist fighters in Ndop”.

Mandela Center International considers this as a total abuse of power on the part of the SDO of Ngokentujia division in the North West region of Cameroon.

The Center says the state should pay adequate compensation to Mr. Yaya Sule and 21 others released July 30th after several weeks of arbitrary detention under very harsh and inhuman conditions .
