Manyu: Military kill notorious Ambazonia ‘General’ in Upper Bayang

By David Atangana

Notorious Ambazonia fighter, Orock Valentine, who called himself ‘General Mbula’, was reportedly killed this morning by a military officer at Ekpor village in Upper Bayang Subdivision, Manyu in the restive South West Region where he operated.

MMI learned he was ambushed and shot at about 3:00am on Monday, January 30th, during a special military operation at Ekpor.

The separatist commander who was member of the Ambazonia Defense Force, ADF, is said to have been killed by a disguised soldier who had sneaked into his hideout around 10pm on Sunday and killed him about 3am Monday.

“Just a single soldier with a pistol went to his hideout at about 3:00am,” a source told MMI.

“When he (General Mbula) came out to ease himself, he was ordered to surrender but he tried to escape before he was shot dead.”

According to the source who spoke to MMI on condition of anonymity, the soldier who carried out the operation “trekked from their base at Ebeagwa to Ekpor located about 5km away carrying a bag on his head like a villager pretending to be travelling.”

He further said: “The special special paratrooper got to Ekpor late at night at around 10pm and patiently waited to avoid casualties, since ‘General Mbula’ was constantly mingling with children.”

The source added that the military had used this undercover tactic in this operation because they wanted to avoid casualties. They could be detected by separatist fighters and in the course of fire exchange civilians would die.

“Moving numerous troops was not yielding fruits, given that they are easily noticed, making the fighters to take precautions,” the source who is also an indegene of the area said.

The corpse of ‘General Mbula’ was reportedly paraded around the Upper Bayang villages of Ebeagwa, Ekpor, Mbanga Mongol,Tali and Tinto before he was buried.

Locals say he committed many atrocities, including kidnapping, and reportedly teamed with late ‘General Ayeke’ of Lebialem to Kidnap about 20 people from Tali village a few years back.
