Maurice Kamto asks National Assembly to establish power vacancy at presidency

The president of Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM)political party has written to the speaker of the national assembly. In the letter, Maurice Kamto is demanding the president of the national assembly as stipulated by the law to establish if there is vacancy at the helm of power in Cameroon or not.

In a release signed Wednesday April 15th, professor Maurice Kamto says the continous silence of President Paul Biya in the face of coronavirus pandemic is an issue.

He adds that as a Cameroonian, the law permits him to ask and know about the leadership in Cameroon. The demand of Maurice Kamto comes same day that president Paul Biya signed a decree releasing some prisoners and reducing sentences of others.

Pro regime activists argue that president Paul Biya’s leadership is being demonstrated and his physical presence is not necessary as demanded by professor Maurice Kamto .

This is not the first time the leader of CRM party has made the call. He believes that the handling of COVID 19 is inefficient in Cameroon because of the absence of president.
