“Maurice Kamto is a Cameroonian with the freedom and rights to movement…” – Kah Walla defends CRM President

The President of the Cameroon People’s Party (CPP) Edith Kah Walla has spoken out against Maurice Kamto being held against his will at the Vallée des Princes Hotel in Douala by the police.

The CRM President, much like when he was placed under house arrest in 2020, was placed under surveillance yesterday at the Vallée des Princes Hotel in Douala, where he lodged ahead of a book dedication he was supposed to attend.

Commenting on the issue, CPP’s Kah Walla said it was unbelievable that the Yaoundé regime couldn’t exceed a long duration without a human rights violation. She said “Maurice Kamto has once again been held against his will at his hotel in Douala by the Cameroon Government. The inability of the Biya regime to spend few hours without human rights violation is extraordinary.”

She added that “Maurice Kamto above all, is a Cameroonian citizen with the rights to freedom of movement and expression. Why are his rights violated in Douala?”

Before his detention at the hotel, Professor Maurice Kamto had addressed a crowd in front of the CRM Party office in Douala, telling them he was not going to relent in his efforts to get all his CRM Militants out from jail.

He stressed out that the party was not one for violence but peace.

Nevertheless, he reiterated that if they are forced across time to choose a contrary path by the regime, then they will do so.
