Couple drown in well
Inhabitants of Mbangassina, Mbam-et-Kim division are yet to come to terms with the sad passing away of a couple. The victims were found drowned in a well after a heated argument late at night, Tuesday, March 4, 2025. The tragic incident occurred after the husband confronted his wife over her frequent late-night outings. This conversation quickly spiraled out of control.
According to eyewitnesses, the argument escalated when the wife, allegedly enraged by her husband’s accusations, grabbed a machete and chased him out of their home. In a desperate attempt to escape, the husband ran through the neighborhood, with his wife in pursuit.
“The whole thing happened so fast. We heard shouting and saw him running with her right behind him,” said a neighbor.
The chase ended near an open well, where a physical struggle ensued. Accounts of how both ended up in the well vary. Some witnesses claim the husband slipped and, in an attempt to save himself, grabbed onto his wife, pulling her in with him. Others suggest the wife may have pushed him first before losing her own balance.
Authorities arrived at the scene and retrieved the lifeless bodies of the couple. They were later transported to the morgue as an investigation was launched to clarify the circumstances of the tragic accident.
