Reports say a young woman, Nina Rosette, and her son Favour died in the morning of Thursday, February 2, at a local hospital in Mbengwi, Northwest Region of Cameroon, after eating poisoned food.
They were rushed to the hospital on Wednesday night after suffering from stomach upset. A medical team that went to investigate the cause of their deaths concluded that they had eaten poisoned food.
Many were left confused after it was reported that the food Rosette had prepared that evening must have been contaminated by rat poison.
It is not clear whether they were the only people who ate the food that evening.
Their bodies were taken to the Mbengwi Municipal Mortuary.
