Mbeumo faces prolonged absence from Brentford due to injury

Brentford’s Cameroonian international, Bryan Mbeumo, is set to endure an extended period on the sidelines due to an ankle injury sustained during Wednesday’s Premier League clash against Brighton.

The news was confirmed by Brentford head coach Thomas Frank, who expressed concern about the severity of the injury.

Mbeumo, who had been a key player for the ‘Bees,’ limped off the field during their 2-1 defeat to Brighton.

The 24-year-old forward had notched up his seventh goal of the season from the penalty spot before being forced to exit the match in the first half.

Frank added, “He will definitely not play on Saturday [against Sheffield United], and he will be out for weeks. We will know more in the next couple of days.”

“[Bryan] must be number two after Ivan [Toney] in terms of goals and assists, which is key. His work rate for the team is incredible; you don’t see many wingers who work so hard and mean so much. He’s become the key man – ‘give me the ball, I’ll take this’. Who will that man be now? We’ll find out in the next weeks,” Coach Frank remarked.

The absence of Mbeumo poses a challenge for Brentford, especially considering Ivan Toney’s existing suspension until January.

Despite the setback, Coach Frank expressed confidence in the team’s ability to find suitable replacements and adapt to the situation.

“…it was also hard to replace Ivan. We normally find a way. That’s football and it happens sometimes. We will find a solution. There are other players who can step up,” Frank added.
