Mbouda: Woman and children arrested for ‘stealing’ cable images, released

The woman and her children who were recently arrested for stealing cable in Mbouda, West region of Cameroon have been released.

The woman was arrested with her two children, aged 4 and 2, on June 21, 2023.

According to the cable man who accused them of theft, the woman has been illegally using his images for 2 years without payment.

He demanded the sum of 75, 000 FCFA for compensation from the said family.

Reports have it that the family was released a few hours after being placed under custody.

It is not clear yet the conditions of their release. MMI in an earlier report did question why the children were arrested alongside their mother. Another area that was not clear was whether there was a criminal offence involved for which the woman could be charged.
