Meet Efon Magline, US-based designer taking Cameroon’s fashion industry to the world

Efon Magline is a US-based Cameroonian fashion designer and CEO of Style Me Diamond, a clothing brand that is putting Cameron’s fashion industry in the global limelight.

From her humble beginnings in Douala, where she grew up, the native of Guzang, a village in Batibo Subdivision of the Northwest Region, had big dreams – to make Cameroonian culture renowned through fashion.

Diamond Nash, as she is popularly called, has an untamed passion for fashion and style, which started at a very young age.

Before relocating to the United States, where she has now positioned herself as Cameroon’s fashion brand ambassador, she was already pushing hard into the fashion world during her university days.

Today, she is making it big ever since she opened her clothing retailing brand, Style Me Diamond, in 2022, thanks to her first experience in the business in 2019.

“I have always been passionate about how I look and dress, especially when I have to go out for an occasion,” said Efon Magline.

“Being an entrepreneur is something I have always wished for since I was younger. I remember a couple of times when I had to sell or do business in my university days. My love for fashion and entrepreneurship made it a perfect blend to start up a clothing brand called Style Me Diamond.”

Magline grew up in Cameroon’s largest city, Douala, from where she relocated to America for studies.

In the US, she did odd jobs to survive and nurture her dreams into reality.

“Relocating to the US was a big dream and achievement for me. Confused as I was, not knowing where to start with my dreams of being a fashion designer, I had to do odd jobs just to survive and see my way through school. After a couple of years, I was able to get myself a better job and start my clothing brand called Style Me Diamond.

“I started SMD in 2019 as a retailing brand. things didn’t work out as planned after spending thousands of US Dollars to buy dresses. I ended up closing down SMD. As broken as I was, I wasn’t discouraged. I learned my season and reopened SDM by 2022. The journey hasn’t been easy, but I’m definitely not where I was last year when I started,” Magline recounted.

Although America presents great opportunities for her thriving business, she also wants her impact to be felt back home in Cameroon.

“America is a great nation for my business, but I have seen that Cameroon has great potential, and the goal is to bring fashion back to Cameron and make the world know about our fashion style, especially our beautiful culture.

“I see Style Me Diamond going globally, partnering with other great fashion designers in Cameroon to make our trademark known to the world, empowering our youth with great fashion skills and aspirations, Have locations spotted all over Cameroon, Africa, and the world.”

Her fashion appeals to people from all over the world, especially Cameroonians.
