Mexican Mayor weds crocodile for ‘goodluck’

Victor Hugo Sosa, a Mexican Mayor has gone viral on social media platforms after he wedded an alligator for ‘goodluck’.

According to the Mayor of San Pedro Huamelula, a town in southern Mexico, the wedding with the 8-year-old reptile was a traditional rite to bring good fortune to his people.

“I accept responsibility because we love each other. That is what is important. You can’t have a marriage without love… I yield to marriage with the princess girl,” Victor Hugo stated.

To Jaime Zarate, chronicler of San Pedro Huamelula, the wedding allows the sides to link with what is the emblem of Mother Earth, “…asking the all-powerful for rain, the germination of the seed, all those things that are peace and harmony for the Chontal man.”

In a viral video, the mayor could be seen kissing and dancing with the reptile dressed in a white gown. The bride’s mouth was tied shut, presumably to avoid ‘unwanted biting’.

The unusual wedding rite which happened a year ago has left the media with wagging tongues to date.
