Microphones, Headphones Stolen From Press Centre at Japoma Stadium

Microphones and headphones have disappeared at the press centre of the Japoma fifty thousand capacity stadium in Douala, Cameroon.

In a release signed by the president of the Association of Sports Journalists, L’AJSC, in the Littoral Region, Marc Lionel Chouamo, “L’AJSC has been notified by the Confederation of African Football – CAF that some materials are missing at the press center at the Japoma Stadium. I, therefore, call on both national and international journalists as well as volunteers working in the stadium to ensure that the materials are returned”.

To Marc Chouamo, the Japoma Stadium in Douala is a new architectural sports complex that needs to be jealously preserved by all.

Without pointing accusing fingers at journalists and other media workers, he says “… I’m addressing journalists first because the materials have been stolen from the press centre. Logically this is where media men and women work on match days”.

The Association of Sports Journalists in the Littoral Region calls on anyone that has taken the materials to return while warning that video cameras have been positioned in the press center that will possibly portray the person or persons in an extreme situation.

The journalists reassure CAF of better coverage of CHAN in the two stadia: Japoma and Bepanda Reunification Omniport Stadiums.

Some journalists in Douala have hinted to Mimi Mefo Info that officials involved in the organization of CHAN issued press badges to many individuals that are not journalists. They insinuate that people of doubtful character that are not journalists, have access to the press centre.

As the search for the material drags on, Cameroonians in Douala are calling on officials of the stadium to check their cameras and identify the culprits.
