Military gatecrash quarter meeting in Bamessing, steal money

When seeking to collect bribes from innocent civilians by the military does not work, they do not live out the option of forcefully taking the money themselves.

There have been several incidences involving the military in the Anglophone regions whereby force was used to extort civilians off their sweat. The most embarrassing of them all was when members of the Rapid Intervention Battalion were caught on CCTV involved in an armed robbery.

In another case pitting the military involved in questionable actions, the force invaded Bamessing, a village in the North West Region, causing a commotion and an air of terror amongst the indigenes who took to their heels for their dear lives.

A local of Bamessing has informed Mimi Mefo Infos that the forces went to Mbulue, a small quarter where a meeting was going on. On sighting the military, they all fled for their lives. “The military men then went ahead to collect the money we all had contributed (about 50,000FCFA) for the development of their community projects, meeting books and a total of 9 motor bikes, ” said one of them who had to escape to Yaounde for safety.

Indigenes of Bamessing complain of too many atrocities committed in the area by the forces that they thought are supposed to protect them, reason why the people of Bamessing often tend to running whenever they spot a military personnel or as much as sighting their vehicles.

Military in the area has been famous for such surprise invasions whereby they take advantage of the commotion caused by their mere presence to loot houses and shops.

Such actions by the forces of law have led thousands of Anglophones to declare that they felt safer and assured in the presence of the separatist fighters than the elements of the Cameroon defence forces.
