Residents of Bonendale in Douala IV sub division in Cameroon’s commercial capital are living in extreme fear after security forces stormed the neighbourhood early today.
“Early this morning at about 4:00 PM elements of the gendarmerie and police were arresting anyone coming from the quarter no matter who you are, identity card or not you get arrested…the military said Amba is hiding in Bonaberi,” said a frightened Bonendale resident.
Bonaberi is hosting thousands of persons displaced by the armed conflict in the Anglophone regions.
“In this quarter, majority are Anglophones and so the rest of us that were informed by family members are still waiting indoors,” said our source.
Days back, two persons were severely injured after a locally made bomb exploded in the busy neighbourhood of Bonaberi. Security forces said the wounded victims travelled from the restive town of Bamenda North West region of Cameroon with the bomb.
