Minister Atanga Nji ‘brokers peace’ at Ngaoundere school

Classes have resumed at College de Mazenod in Ngaoundere, Adamawa region of Cameroon.

Muslims studying in the institution had had a standoff with school authorities for refusing to wear badges which had a cross on it.

After the intervention of the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, the muslim students have been permitted to attend school without badges for peace to reign.

“Following the correspondence of September 9, 2021 relating to the wearing of the badge by Muslim students of the College de Mazenod, the Minister of Territorial Administration made an intervention to appease the situation,” said the town’s Imam, in a statement.

Assuring Muslim faithful that ideal solutions are being sought, Imam Mahmoud Ali urged them “to be calm and restrained so that peace and peaceful coexistence here in our country in general and our region in particular, is preserved.”

Minister Atanga Nji on his part, had urged the stakeholders concerned to consolidate living together and peaceful coexistence, placing above all, the interest of the nation.
