The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Celestine Ketcha Courtes has lamented the precariousness of large cities in Cameroon.
As the world yesterday October 4, 2021, celebrated World Habitat Day, Minister Celestine Ketcha Courtes told the CRTV that “70% of our big towns are Slumps.”
She added that the Mayors of these cities should get more involved in organizing the metropolis. “We all have a responsibility to shape the future of our cities and towns.” She said.
According to the Minister, the Government is firm in its belief that the ugly face of the cities can be changed.
“The renovation and Urban restructuring,” she says “is taking place at Territorial levels. It is left on the Mayors to get involved now because climate change is a reality, ” she reassured.
