Moja Moja, Buea Mayor block highway in protest as soldiers kill Bakweri cult leader

The Nganya, a sacred cult of the Bakweri people in Fako Division have blocked the road at Bongo Square in Buea.

The order for the road to be blocked was given by the Mayor of Buea, Barrister David Mafani Namange.

The protesters include the notorious Chief Ewome Eko John alias Moja Moja, Traditional ruler of Bwassa village and soldier.

After ordering that the roads be blocked to protest military brutality and the killing of a Bakweri secret cult leader by soldiers, Moja Moja, the Mayor amd some traditional rulers proceeded to the residence of the deceased man, John Monono.

All conversations at the residence were done in Mokpé, but a source has hinted that the Mayor and his countrymen say they will rise against all settlers — even soldiers and civil administrators who are not of Bakweri blood.

“Settlers cannot come here and kill us and go free,” the Mayor and chief Moja Moja are quoted as saying.

Mimi Mefo Info reported earlier that John Monono was shot and killed by Soldiers at Bonduma this morning. The deceased was leading a 15-man Nganya dance at about 5am when the incident occurred. One other member of the group was injured and is in critical condition at a hospital.
