A man who stabbed himself after murdering his wife in Mokolo, a town in the Far North Region, has died.
He died under intensive care at the Maroua Regional Hospital early on Thursday, April 13.
He attempted suicide days earlier after stabbing his wife, Mentchum Wambo, to death.
The mother of eight and a teacher in service at the Mokolo Bilingual High School died on the spot, our correspondent in Mokolo confirmed.
According to information MMI obtained, the husband suspected his wife of infidelity and was aware of sexual relations between his wife and another man.
“He secretly followed his wife to a hotel where he discovered her cheating on him with the man. He did not react immediately,” said our reporter.
“Once at home, after engaging in verbal arguments with the wife, the enraged husband stabbed her severally before stabbing himself.”
The wife died on the spot while the husband was transported to the Maroua Regional Hospital where he died this Thursday morning.
The police have opened an investigation into the issue.
The man’s body has been returned to the morgue of the Mokolo Regional Hospital Annex.
